Al-Azhar Alumni UK Welcomes Mosque Leadership Event

On Saturday, 31 May 2025, Al-Azhar Alumni UK, the UK Branch of the World Organisation for Al-Azhar Graduates, hosted a prestigious programme in collaboration with Jamia Al-Karam titled ‘Honouring Our Mosques: Dialogue & Appreciation Event’ at its head office in Retford. The event gathered mosque leaders, Imams and scholars from across the UK to honour the essential role of mosques in British society and foster dialogue on strengthening community service.

The event opened with a welcome by Board Member, Gul Muhammad al-Azhari, followed by structured dialogue moderated by the President of Al-Azhar Alumni UK, Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari.

Attendees shared valuable insights, creating a vibrant atmosphere of learning and unity. Dr Mahboob Hussain al-Azhari, Board Member, led an appreciation ceremony recognising mosques that supported recent initiatives, particularly Jamia Al-Karam’s Ramadan 1446 fundraising campaign.

A keynote address by Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, Founder of Jamia Al-Karam and Patron of Al-Azhar Alumni UK, reflected on the enduring legacy of mosques and their role in fostering unity and countering Islamophobia.

The event concluded with a luncheon, strengthening bonds among mosque leaders and scholars. Al-Azhar Alumni UK extends heartfelt thanks to the many mosques in attendance and remains committed to supporting community advancement through knowledge and service.
