President of WAAG UK Visits Al-Azhar Affiliated Darul Uloom in South Africa

Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada is hosted at Darul Uloom Pretoria in South Africa and delivers lecture at Jumma Mosque of South Street, Pretoria.

During the last week of October 2013, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, the President of the UK Branch of the World Association for Al-Azhar Graduates (WAAG UK), travelled to South Africa via Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He visited the cities of Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Aside from his private engagements, Shaykh Pirzada was hosted by the Founder of Darul Uloom Pretoria, Mufti Muhammad Akbar Hazarvi, at the Darul Uloom where Shaykh Pirzada was given a tour of the Darul Uloom campus, it works and achievements. Darul Uloom Pretoria is a centre of education affiliated to Al-Azhar University of Cairo, Egypt, and represents al-Ma’had al-Azhari in South Africa. Shaykh Pirzada gifted the Darul Uloom library with his recently published commentary of the Qur’an, Tafsir Imdad al-Karam. Shaykh Pirzada further met students of the Darul Uloom and participated in some gatherings. For the Friday Prayer, Shaykh Pirzada was invited to the central Jumma Mosque of the Pretoria Muslim Trust (PMT) where he delivered a lecture before the prayer.

In Durban, Shaykh Pirzada was hosted at the shrine of the Darbar Habibia Soofie Saheb. Shaykh Pirzada toured the complex and visited the museum and had discussions with the custodians of the shrine. The promotion of education and educational establishments were deliberated upon.

During this visit and with meetings between scholars and Muslim leaders, the moderate message of Islam and the betterment of education amongst the Muslim youths and coming generations were discussed and how cooperation can be further strengthened.
