A delegation of leaders representing the Evangelical Church, led by Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki Stephanous, President of the Protestant Community of Egypt and Director of the Coptic Evangelical Organisation for Social Services, visited the Grand Imam, Dr Ahmad al-Tayyeb Shaykh al-Azhar, in Cairo to extend well-wishes and congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr following the month of Ramadan.
In his statement, Dr Andrea Zaki said:
“We are pleased and honoured to congratulate you and our Muslim brothers on the approaching occasion of Eid al-Fitr, hoping that these happy occasions will return to all of us, Christians and Muslims, with goodness and love. We cherish the relationship that connects us with your virtue and appreciate your great role in supporting citizenship and coexistence. We feel comfort, love, and appreciation in these meetings.”
On his part, His Excellency the Shaykh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif welcomed the delegation of the Evangelical Church, saying:
“Welcome to Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. We thank you for your kind sentiments, and we are happy with these visits and meetings where we exchange congratulations on holidays and occasions, which confirm the unity of us Egyptians—Muslims and Christians—as one national fabric.”
