A life of service to the Prophetic Mosque and al-Rawdah al-Sharifah; Shaykh al-Aghwat Sa’id Adam Agha passes away in Madinah and is laid to rest in Jannat al-Baqi’.
After being honoured for over thirty years with service to al-Masjid al-Nabawi (the Prophetic Mosque) in Madinah, Shaykh al-Aghwat Sa’id Adam Agha passed away on 11 December 2013 at the age of 91 years. His funeral prayer was offered in the Prophetic Mosque after the Morning Prayer and he was buried in the cemetery of al-Baqi’ adjacent to the Prophetic Mosque.
Shaykh Sa’id Adam Agha spent a lifetime serving the Prophetic Mosque and more closely was the custodian and key-keeper to al-Rawdah al-Sharifah, the blessed resting place of the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) under the Green Dome in the Prophetic Mosque. He was attributed with excellence in character, beauty in humbleness and sincerity in his service seeking reward from Allah alone.
The United Kingdom Branch of the World Association for Al-Azhar Graduates (WAAG UK) joins with others especially those who knew him and worked with him closely in expressing condolence at his passing away and praying for his acceptance in the hereafter. Tributes have poured in also from various notable individuals who have all remembered Shaykh Sa’id Adam Agha in utmost praiseworthy comments.
The Director-General of the Affairs of al-Masjid al-Haram and al-Masjid al-Nabawi, Shaykh Dr ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Sudays, stated, “We have lost a great elder, a blessed man and a servant of the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). We consider him from amongst the righteous ones who have served the Prophetic Mosque. He in particular served the Prophetic Room for many years. We have prayers of forgiveness and mercy to shower upon him.”
The Director of the Presidential Office of the Affairs of al-Masjid al-Nabawi, Shaykh ‘Abd al-Aziz al-Falih, stated, “With the death of Shaykh Sa’id Adam, the Haramayn Sharifayn, and the Prophetic Mosque in particular, have lost one of the servants honoured with serving the mosque of the Chosen One (peace be upon him) for many years. Today in the separation of this great man, we are saddened.”
The Imam and Khatib of al-Masjid al-Nabawi, Shaykh Ali al-Huzayfi, expressed his grief saying, “We are saddened at the passing away of one of the servants of the mosque of the Messenger (peace be upon him) and the one honoured with serving the blessed Prophetic Room for a long period of time. We consider Shaykh Sa’id among the righteous one who remained in the service of the Haram of the Prophet (peace be upon him). May Allah have mercy upon him.
”Vice President of WAAG UK, Bakhtyar H Pirzada al-Azhari, who visited Shaykh Sa’id Adam Agha and spent some time at his home in Madinah in March 2013 expressed his grief with the words, “He was a man of secrets and illuminations who lived a paradisiacal life distant from this world as he spent half a century holding the key to the Prophetic Presence. After spending his life clinging to his beloved, Shaykh Adam is today with his beloved and we will forever feel his blessings and presence.” He further stated, “I will also share here that Shaykh Adam was due to visit the UK in June 2013 and be the key presence at the Gateway 2013 conference in the LG Arena in Birmingham. We had gained his visa and all was set. However, his close associates who take care of him and look after his medical concerns did not get visa in time and Shaykh Adam said to me that he would not travel without them as he is old and weak. Soon we were out of time and Ramadan was approaching. And now at present we were in the process of expecting Shaykh Adam for Gateway 2014. Allah knows best the secrets of his infinite wisdom.”
