PRINCE CHARLES VISITS AL-AZHAR IN EGYPT

HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are hosted by the Grand Imam, Dr Ahmad al-Tayyeb Shaykh al-Azhar, at the historic Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo, Egypt.
The Grand Imam, Dr Ahmad al-Tayyeb Shaykh al-Azhar, stated: “The renowned Human Fraternity Document is the fruit of Al-Azhar’s openness towards other communities and the churches of the East and the West. Al-Azhar has managed to communicate with the youth, in the East and the West, towards spreading the values of peace, tolerance and love.”
HRH The Prince of Wales, Charles, stated: “We appreciate the efforts of the Grand Imam in promoting a culture of inter-faith dialogue and combating extremism and radicalism.”
Earlier today, HRH The Prince of Wales, Charles, accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, were hosted at the historic Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo, Egypt, by the Grand Imam and senior scholars of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. Discussions revolved around ways to enhance cultural and scientific cooperation between Britain and Al-Azhar, promote dialogue between followers of religions, and address contemporary humanitarian crises, particularly climate change.
