Al-Azhar Alumni UK Meets Archbishop Of York in Retford

On Thursday 12 September 2019, the Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, visited the town of Retford where he delivered a lecture on ‘The Sentamu Story’, as part of the One Life Mission programme. He was hosted by the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham.

Together with the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Archbishop of York is a leading spokesman on behalf of the Church of England. He is Primate of England, Chairman and President of numerous other Church bodies and leads the twelve dioceses in the northern province of the Church of England.

During his visit to Retford, representatives from Al-Azhar Alumni UK, which is based in Retford and is the UK Branch of the World Organisation for Al-Azhar Graduates, had arranged to meet the Archbishop of York which took place following his lecture in Retford. The Al-Azhar Alumni UK delegation was led by Mr Mohammed Ishaq and Mr Adil Khan. During their meeting and discussion with the Archbishop, the delegation gifted latest written works of the President of Al-Azhar Alumni UK, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, including the books ‘Qur’an: The Sublime Word’, ‘ISIS: State of Ignorance’, and ‘I am a British Muslim’, and they highlighted the important work taking place from the institution at Eaton Hall, in the historic town of Retford.

The delegation also met up with the Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, Paul Williams.
