WAAG UK Delegation Meets Shaykh Ali Al-Hashemi In London

Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari heads delegation from WAAG UK to meet with the UAE Presidential Advisor, Shaykh Al-Sayed Ali Al-Hashemi in London.

On Wednesday 16 May 2012, a delegation from the United Kingdom Branch of the World Association for Al-Azhar Graduates (WAAG UK) headed by the Vice President Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari and including the Executive Assistant Haseeb Akhtar al-Azhari and the Administration Manager Zein Hud al-Azhari travelled to the Hyatt Regency Hotel The Churchill in London to meet with the renowned scholar Shaykh Al-Sayed Ali Al-Hashemi from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

His Excellency Shaykh Al-Sayed Ali Al-Hashemi is the Judicial and Religious Affairs Advisor to the Ministry of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Special Advisor to the President Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

The WAAG UK delegation were warmly welcomed by the Shaykh’s Special Assistant Muhammad Mubarak al-Murry and then the delegation met with Shaykh Ali Al-Hashemi. Following the exchanges of well wishes and greetings, discussions regarding various matters ensued.

Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari provided an analysis to the activities and works of WAAG UK over the past year since its inauguration in June 2011 and presented some reports as well as the WAAG UK booklet ‘Islam and Peace’ featuring the talk of Shaykh Prof Dr Abdul Fadeel al-Qawsi delivered in Manchester in June 2011 at the international Gateway to Divine Mercy conference. Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari further presented various books and the Qur’an translation done by the President of WAAG UK, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada. Discussing the location of the head office of WAAG UK, the delegation provided details to its location in Eaton Hall, Retford, Nottinghamshire, in the extensive campus of Jamia Al-Karam, an educational institution serving the UK community since 1985.

Shaykh Ali Al-Hashemi spoke elaborately on various issues facing the Muslims and also commented on his current trip to the UK. He informed the delegation that he had received information from Cairo regarding WAAG UK and deeply desired to visit its head office in Nottinghamshire; however, due to his very busy schedule during this official governmental visit, he could not visit.

Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari formally invited Shaykh Ali Al-Hashemi to visit the head office of WAAG UK to which the Shaykh replied that during his next visit to the UK, there will be more time and he will most certainly visit WAAG UK.

The meeting was pleasant, beneficial and fruitful.
